The Black Rose

The seething snake lifts its head
Hoping to seek some vengeance today
For her crushed dreams
Her burnt soul, her bruised ego
And her unrequited love
As her château des rêves tumbled onto the ground,
He died, not that she wanted him alive
She needed to see the pain, to hear the anguish
She craved for his suffering
And His pain ignited her
The times he let her down
The anguished despair of loving a heartless man
The fury at his ignorance
The burning vengeance consuming her
Darkness clouded the once pure heart
As spurious tears flowed down
She laid her blazing eyes over him
He lay there in ashes and bones
Neither as a body to touch nor as a soul to feel
She has had her revenge, vented her anger
But her beautiful lips still could not part
Neither could they break into a smile
The painful heart beat hard beneath her ribs
And for a moment she wondered
Was revenge all she wanted?
